Prior to and during law school, Mari Alice worked at small, mid-size and large law firms, and in every capacity — file clerk, receptionist, secretary, and paralegal. Upon receiving her license to practice law, Mari Alice’s practice was focused on representing boards of education across the State of Ohio in matters relating to employment law, labor relations, and general school law matters.
During that time, Mari Alice successfully argued an employment termination case in the Ninth Appellate District in Summit County, and has received favorable judgments in both federal and state courts relative to employment discrimination, termination, and discipline; administrative appeals; student discipline; special education matters; wrongful death; temporary restraining orders; and workers’ compensation appeals. Additionally, Mari Alice has represented clients before various administrative agencies, such as the American Arbitration Association, the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, the U.S. and Ohio Departments of Education, the State Employment Relations Board, the Unemployment Commission, and the Industrial Commission.
Mari Alice’s practice is currently focused in the areas of employment and labor law, domestic relations (divorce, dissolution, post-decree matters), municipal law, nonprofit and for-profit corporate law, estate planning (wills, powers of attorneys, living wills), probate and guardianship matters, and civil litigation. The law, legal matters, courts, and lawyers can be intimidating and complicated — Mari Alice is committed to work with every client to learn all the facts of the case, the client’s goals, and the law with the expectation of achieving the most favorable outcome in an uncomplicated and understandable way.
